The regional office Merlion Shipping Ltd located in Mombasa assisted by team Merlion Shipping (T) Pvt Ltd in Dar Es Salaam where it serves as a branch office for East Africa and coordinates various functions for the region.

Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam are a major trade centre in Kenya and Tanzania. As a regional cultural and economic hub, it has a prominent and contemporary deep-water port. The Port of Mombasa is Kenya’s busiest and largest seaport also the Port of Dar Es Salaam is Tanzania’s busiest among Tanzania's seaport, serving the hinterland by exporting important agricultural products and supporting the foundation of the Kenyan and Tanzanian economy. In addition to serving Kenya and Tanzania, the port serves countries in inland Africa like Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Southern Sudan, Rwanda, Sudan, Ethiopia,Zambia and Somalia. The two countries traditionally exports tea and coffee. Other local industries include metal works, sugar processors, fertilizer manufacturers, cement works, and oil refining.
